When Froma Benerofe went back to college later in life to become a social worker, she did so with the same motivation of a person decades younger: She wanted to help people heal.
That motivation, drawn in part from the Jewish concept of tikkun olam, or to repair the world, is something that Ms. Benerofe sees in most every social worker she meets. She says that it's a belief in helping others to make the world a better place.
