Dr. Richard Zweig, professor of psychology at and director of the Ferkauf Older Adult Program, has co-authored a paper, 鈥,鈥 with Dr. Daniel Sullivan 鈥13F (Department of Psychiatry and Behaviorial Sciences at Montefiore Medical Center in the Bronx, NY) and Dr. Patricia Zeff (private practice). The aims of the study were to survey clinicians鈥 opinions regarding psychotherapy practices in mutual termination with a specified population (depressed older adult outpatients) and to examine the patient and therapist characteristics that may influence such practices.
On a side note, this paper by Dr. Sullivan was declared by the editorial team of Clinical Gerontologist as one of the best papers published by a new and emerging scholar for 2018. It was one of two papers selected out of a total of 21 papers submitted for the competition.
Dr. Zweig also co-authored a poster with Dr. Shira Kafker 鈥18F entitled 鈥淪ocial Support Buffers the Relationship Between Personality Pathology and Depression in Older Adults鈥 which will be presented at the s 70th Annual Scientific Meeting in Boston, Massachusetts, running from November 14-18, 2018.
The Ferkauf Older Adult Program will be profiled in the December 2018 issue of the American Psychological Association鈥檚 Monitor on Psychology in an article about model programs which deliver integrated mental health services to older adults within primary care settings.
