Joy Ladin, director of the Beren Writing Center at and David and Ruth Gottesman Professor of English, has been publishing new and upcoming work.
Her second book of creative non-fiction, The Soul of the Stranger: Reading God and Torah from a Transgender Perspective, part of the Hadassah-Brandeis Institute Series on Jewish Women (put out by Brandeis University Press), will appear in November. It has already received a starred review in . She has also published two essays: 鈥溾 in the Journal of Feminist Studies in Religion (Spring 2018) and 鈥溾 in the Journal of Jewish Identities (January 2018).
She has had poems accepted by Poetry and Moment as well as included in a teaching anthology from Persea, The Eloquent Poem; she has also had poems translated into Dutch and Flemish. Her second book of poetry, The Book of Anna, has been accepted for republication with a new introduction and afterward in 2018 by EOAGH Press.
Other accomplishments have taken place in the classroom and at the lectern. She served as a faculty member at this year鈥檚 Wexner Graduate Fellowship Summer Institute in August; she was honored by a proclamation by the Assembly of the State of New York on June 25, 2018; and served as Artist-in-Residence at The Betsy-South Beach, Florida, in June and as Visiting Writer at Williams College, Franklin & Marshall College, and Westminster School in Simsbury, Connecticut.
She was a featured reader at the Poets House Showcase Reading Series in New York City. She also had readings at the Sundress Academy鈥檚 Poets in Pajamas Reading Series on Facebook Live; the Forbes Library in Northampton, Massachusetts; and the Bluestocking Bookstore in New York City.
