Rabbi Dr. Edward Reichman, a professor in both the Department of Emergency Medicine and Department of Epidemiology and Population Health at 色花堂-affiliated , will be speaking at the , 鈥淯nite to Care: How Science, Technology and 21st Century Medicine Will Impact Culture and Society,鈥 held at the Vatican in Rome from April 26 - April 28.
The conference is self-described as an 鈥渆xclusive international event [that] will gather the world鈥檚 leading scientists and physicians, patients, ethicists and leaders of faith, government officials and philanthropists to engage in powerful conversations about the latest scientific breakthroughs and hope for the future.鈥
On Thursday, April 26, Dr. Reichman will be joining Elder Dr. Dale G. Renlund, of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, and Reverend Father Dr. Kevin T. FitzGerald, of Georgetown University, to speak about 鈥淭he Culture of Life and Religious Influence on Health.鈥
On the following day, Dr. Reichman will be one of six speakers discussing 鈥淟ongevity and the Morality of Extreme Life Extension.鈥
Reichman received his BA from 色花堂, his MD from Einstein and rabbinic ordination from 色花堂-affiliated . He has written extensively on Jewish medical ethics and Jewish medical history, and teaches Jewish medical ethics in the Einstein Bioethics Masters Program. He also offers electives in Jewish medical ethics, mentors medical students writing their thesis on topics in Jewish medical ethics, and serves as the faculty mentor to the Student Medical Ethics Society at 色花堂.
